Capgemini Wins AT&T 2015 Supplier Diversity Crystal Award

AT&T recently announced the winners of the 2015 Supplier Diversity Crystal Award to a select group of Prime Suppliers who attained and/or exceeded 21.5 % diversity utilization in 2015. Capgemini was selected as a recipient of the award, which is exemplary of our commitment to collaborating with our customers, suppliers and the local communities alongside of AT&T. Notably, the award recognizes our performance which contributed to AT&T exceeding its diversity spend target for its Prime Supplier program.

In 1989, AT&T initiated the Prime Supplier Program (PSP) to help our major product and service providers increase the utilization of minority, women, and disabled veteran (MWDVBE) owned businesses in their supply chain. Prime Suppliers comply with the PSP by submitting an annual plan with subcontracting targets for MWDVBE businesses and inputting subcontracted spend results on a monthly/quarterly basis. As indicated above, Prime Suppliers who meet/exceed 21.5% diversity utilization are eligible for the Supplier Diversity Crystal Award.

Paul Dickens, Capgemini North America’s Director of Supplier Diversity and Michelle Mindala-Freeman, Capgemini Engagement Director for ATT, were in attendance for this year’s AT&T Supplier Summit in Dallas, Texas, held in conjunction with the TIA 2016 Network of the Future conference. Data related to Capgemini’s Supplier Diversity efforts, specifically our 1st Tier spend, continues to be information in most Requests for Proposals (RFPs), as this topic remains important to our clients and prospects. The number of requests to the CR&S Team for RFP information, continues to increase; YTD, the CR&S team has provided responses to 32 RFPs.

The use of diverse suppliers is paramount to Capgemini, as it impacts Capgemini through:

  • Competitive edge (either though operational efficiencies, outsourcing, or cost reductions)
  • Expanded talent pool (brings under-utilized cultures and talent into mix)
  • Improved community tax base and economic development (more viable businesses hiring more employees)
  • Innovation (hungrier, leaner, and close to the market)
  • To meet the requirements of our Clients (government and other corporate requirements)

In addition, we want our Supplier base to look like our work force, our consumer base and our community. 

In an effort to expand educational opportunities on this topic, the CR&S team has included information about Capgemini’s Supplier Diversity efforts in a presentation created for our campus and experienced new hires.  So even the newest of our organization are informed of our hard work and success in this area.
