An EPIC Award from Teradata for helping to create Enterprise Intelligence for a European bank

The New Year is always a good point to review past achievements, and for me one of the highlights of 2015 was Capgemini being awarded the prestigious Teradata EPIC Award for “Enterprise Intelligence” at the 30th annual Teradata Partners Conference 2015 in California at the end of last year - for the eighth time.

This particular submission was based on the work that we’d done with a leading European financial institution in building their global data warehouse.  Like many a similar data warehouse project, our task was to harmonize the client’s disparate and disconnected operational systems, and so form common good data that would act as a ‘single source of truth’. This was particularly important as the data is used to perform all kinds of business, financial, regulatory and compliance reporting, as well as delivering global analytical capabilities.

Our warehouse solution is now helping the bank to reach their vision of a “world-class simplified group functions”, operating through efficient integrated processes and platforms, and leveraging top people in each domain.  It has ensured significant simplification, reduced people dependencies on understanding of data, increased agility of making data available to achieve insights and information, and reduced operational risk and costs.

Our client can now ensure a better customer experience, through an holistic view of their data from the warehouse. Equally important, our client can meet more effectively the upcoming regulatory demands, with strict controls and data quality measures for all data in the warehouse, giving them a technical edge in enterprise intelligence.

This has clearly demonstrated not only the strength of our data analytics solution (based on best-in-class Teradata implementation) but also the business value delivered for our client in the BI domain, including smarter ways of working and improving enterprise wide intelligence. All of this is helping our client to drive business transformation in the financial services sector.

The Teradata EPIC awards are hosted every year and recognize outstanding achievements in the use of data to generate business value, innovative use of analytics technology, and integrated marketing solutions, for both customers and partners.

Over 150 entries were submitted for the awards last year, where winners were selected by an independent judging panel including a cross-section of industry innovators, chief information officers, marketing specialists, technologists, educators and technology journalists.

It was a moment of immense pride for the Capgemini team (and our client) to receive the award from Teradata’s CEO Mike Koehler in front of 6,000 seasoned, technology business and marketing professionals from across the globe. Honors should go to the Capgemini teams in Europe and India for playing such a pivotal role in winning the Teradata awards this year, as well as our client of course.

Over the past few years, Capgemini has consistently demonstrated strength of solutions and ability to deliver customer successes, through winning a number of awards, including Teradata EPIC awards for Operational Excellence (transformation program to one of the world’s largest consumer goods companies; Enterprise Intelligence (transformation program at a major Telco Operator), Apex Innovation Award for marketing solutions in Life Sciences and for work in the field of Smart Analytics for utilities.

I am hoping that 2016 will be equally successful.
