- How do you feel in the morning getting up and going to work at Capgemini?
In short, it feels great! Waking up in the morning and preparing for a day full of variety at Capgemini makes it a lot easier not to hit “snooze” on my alarm several times. It is team spirit, fun, and freedom to act at Capgemini that fills me with energy to take on the challenges of the day. We always strive for the best solutions for our customers. The unique thing at Capgemini is that you learn every day and that learning is embraced by the company big time.
- What do you love about being an architect?
As an Enterprise Architect you need to find technological solutions for business or strategic objectives. Mostly, these objective serve certain customer needs. This means that whatever we are doing, we focus on the customer. Having this in mind it is indispensable to take the customer’s perspective on every product you produce. Putting yourself into the client’s seat lets you create products that satisfy customer needs. However, as an architect, one should know the development process in order to craft products that are technically feasible. In addition to the customer’s and the developer’s perspective, an Enterprise Architect needs to have the organization, its spirit, and its values in mind to make the development work, integrate innovative ideas, and make the difference for each customer. Taking all these different angles is what I love about being an Enterprise Architect.
- How does Capgemini empower you to master your skills as an architect?
At Capgemini, there is an unwritten rule that if you are willing and motivated to develop yourself, to dive into new topics, or to be part of a certain project, there is a way. Everyone involved is excited about your motivation and supports you as much as possible. It is not only through the dedicated learning path for architects that I can improve my skills, but also different opportunities next to the daily business.
- How does Capgemini help support a sense of purpose in your career?
Capgemini embraces sustainability. Although traveling is part of our daily business, we try to staff employees locally, create initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint, and support foundations who make this world a more sustainable place. With our latest strategy, we aim to become “Architects of Positive Futures.” We want to use our expertise to create positive impact around the globe.
- How does Capgemini give you the autonomy to make decisions?
Decision making is one of the key skills any person in consulting should have. Capgemini’s approach to support decision making is by preparing every employee to do so. Providing methods and best practices to come up with a decision, reviewing every decision made, and supporting everyone when a decision goes sideways.
- What do you love about the way of working at Capgemini?
There is no such thing as “no” at Capgemini. It is “make your case, make decisions, and present your results.” Afterwards the results are evaluated and either reworked or further developed. This opportunity to work on your own ideas without any intervention in the beginning gives you freedom to act and supports intrapreneurship as well as employee motivation.
- How does this all combine for you to have passion for what you do?
Having interesting and challenging projects is one trigger for my passion in architecture. Having a company that supports me in all you do is another trigger. Capgemini provides many opportunities to develop myself and to become the best I can be. This is what fires my passion for what I am doing.
- What was your most memorable moment in your Capgemini journey?
The most memorable moment at Capgemini is actually an ongoing one. It is “friendship.” Every day, I not only meet new colleagues, but also see friends with whom I can work, do sports, or go for a drink in the evening.
