Capgemini named ‘LGBTQ+’ Employer of the Year’ for a second year at the 2022 Australian Workplace Equality Inclusion Awards

03 Jun 2022

Sydney, June 1, 2022 – Capgemini today announced that it has once again been named LGBTQ+ ‘Employer of the Year’ and has retained its Gold Employer status for the third year in a row at the 2022 Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) Awards. In addition, Capgemini took home the award for ‘Inclusion of Trans and Gender Diverse Employees’ for the second time and was presented the Sally Webster Ally Award.

The AWEI is Australia’s definitive national benchmark on LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion and is the largest national employee survey that measures the impact of inclusion initiatives on organisational culture. It drives best practice in Australia and sets a comparative benchmark for Australian employers across all sectors.

The awards ceremony was hosted by Pride in Diversity, a national not-for-profit employer support program for LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion in Australia.

Achieving the Employer of the Year Award for LGBTQ+ at the Australian Workplace Equality Index Awards for the second time is testament to Capgemini’s commitment to inclusion and diversity,” said Kaylene O’Brien, Managing Director of Capgemini in Australia and New Zealand. “We are grateful to be recognised and are very proud of the teams that make this possible, especially our OUTfront community, which is Capgemini’s global network of LGBT+ colleagues and allies who help to promote awareness, build active allyship, and advocate for inclusion. Together, with a diverse team, we’re building a workplace for a more inclusive and sustainable future, and it is our hope that more organisations will follow suit.

This is the third consecutive year that Capgemini has been recognised at the AWEI Awards, and the outcome illustrates the Group’s commitment to establishing a safe, diverse and inclusive work environment, including the  dedication of its Employee Community Group, OUTfront. Initiatives such as sponsoring and developing LGBT+ employees, refining HR policies, supporting trans and gender diverse inclusion, celebrating days of significance, executive leadership and external community engagement programs have driven a transformational change to achieve these results.
