Consolidating and enhancing ERP systems

Netafim is a leading global producer and supplier of irrigation products. A subsidiary of Netafim Limited, headquartered in Israel, Netafim’s manufacturing and supply chain operations in Australia are supported by four warehouses and distribution centres. The company has been using SAP services across its operations for 20 years and, after implementing its SAP warehouse management system (WMS) in 2015, Netafim was looking to consolidate its SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and processes across its operations.

With quality, supply chain, planning, purchasing, and customer service being managed through SAP, Netafim wanted to enhance its operations and management of its SAP system. The business was looking for a long-term SAP partner to help optimise its WMS, improving efficiencies and reducing errors across the business while also providing support in challenging times. To help optimise and harness the power of existing SAP deployments across the business, Netafim engaged the services of Capgemini* to enhance operations with its SAP-integrated Warehouse Management application.

Significant improvements to business operations with Warehouse Management app trial

After reviewing a number of potential partners and solutions, Capgemini’s Warehouse Management application was selected as the preferred solution for its integration with SAP, and Capgemini’s expertise as an SAP global partner. Netafim has worked with Capgemini as a trial partner throughout the development and testing of the Warehouse Management application and has used the application to successfully transition from a paper-based system to digital. Netafim has grown as part of its transition and use of the application and has been able to easily introduce new product portfolios from a supply chain perspective. In addition, Netafim has improved its productivity and efficiency, reduced error rates, and improved both picking accuracy and employee engagement.

Increasing picking rates and productivity while reducing error rates

With a proven record and strong expertise with SAP products, Capgemini developed its Warehouse Management application to easily integrate with existing SAP systems. As a trial partner, Netafim worked with Capgemini to customise the solution for its business needs to improve all assets of its supply chain and distribution across Australia. Capgemini provided support to the Netafim team in pre- and post-implementation phases of the deployment and worked closely with the team to optimise its Warehouse Management App to suit the company’s requirements.

Through working with Capgemini to deploy its Warehouse Management application in a trial phase, Netafim has already seen significant impacts from the service. The Capgemini Warehouse Management application has increased workforce engagement at Netafim significantly, and lets workers increase their accuracy and speed to delivery on orders. By extending Netafim’s SAP deployment to the warehouse floor, workers can access real-time data on stock availability as they need it, directing operators to where the items are located for processing.

Since implementing the Warehouse Management application, Netafim has achieved a 30 per% reduction in its error rates, while also improving its processing of incoming goods by more than 50%. In addition, the business has experienced a 20% improvement in its picking rates.

* This project was executed by Acclimation in October 2020 and Capgemini continues to be engaged as a partner through to the present.
