Earth Observation

In 1986, the stream of images beaming down from the SPOT 1 Earth observation satellite was a major triumph for the French national space agency (CNES). With much better resolution than competing US satellites, CNES wanted to sell this data on the open market, but nobody had yet built software capable of storing, identifying, and processing what soon became millions of images. Our solution put us on the map in the emerging Earth observation industry. Thirty years later, we play a key role in sorting and disseminating the huge volume of data from the European Space Agency’s Copernicus program – widely regarded as the most ambitious Earth observation program ever undertaken.
