Where BOLDNESS took me in India

During our 8 weeks of Capgemini on-boarding, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to spend 3 weeks training in Mumbai, India with our Capgemini India team! One of the great benefits of this was that we were able to travel to different cities around the country on the weekends and a memorable highlight was definitely visiting the breathtaking Taj Mahal.

To finish off our week of core values, another Capgemini core value is BOLDNESS. As an introvert, to me, boldness is waking up at 4am on a Sunday morning and walking a mile and a half to see the sunrise over the Taj Mahal; befriending strangers who invite you to their home for a traditional Indian home-cooked meal who turn out to be some of the nicest people I have ever met; and hopping on a sold out train back to New Delhi with no ticket, only to find myself fined for not having a ticket and being sent to the last train car with no space to sit, standing next to an Indian family who offers to squeeze me in their bench and offer me food and company for the 3 hour train ride back.

Most importantly, I believe boldness is overcoming the fear of encountering new things, different cultures, and different people. And above that, realizing that we become a more connected world when we share our experiences and cultures with others so that we can learn from each other. Let’s not let life slip away without doing at least one thing that scares us every day—let’s be bold! #Gradathon
