IT Architecture in Large Scale Programs

Critical success factors

IT architecture is one of the key contributors to the success of IT-enabled transformation programs, yet many of us in the industry find that simply assigning architects a program is not a sufficient pre-requisite of success. Success of programs, especially very large scale programs, is challenging due to the complexity, uncertainty and volatility of the external and internal environment within which they operate.

This paper presents architectural lessons learnt, as well as practices to help operate pragmatically under these conditions, including architecture leadership, collaboration, integration of architecture with the program delivery approach and architecture governance.
