A recent study conducted by Martin Hamoen, a senior consultant at Capgemini, The Netherlands, puts the world’s top twenty main air cargo handling airports on the map. His investigation looks into how many metric tonnes of freight were handled in 2006, comparing the growth of each airport’s year-to-date figures with the same figures of the previous year.

The research shows some interesting facts about each airport. For example, the map displays home base carrier(s) for each one, along with other important carriers who use the airport as their main hub. The study also offers additional logistics information on total ramp and available warehouse space, as well as inter-modal connections to land, rail, waterway and sea destinations. The report also contains interesting airport news and developments.
