Enabling Convergence: Presence - A first step towards IMS
Telecommunication networks are evolving towards a decentralized, all-IP, access-agnostic architecture based on open standards: the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)
IMS will transform the core into an all-IP, converged network with capabilities to support rich, multimedia services. An IP-based architecture simplifies network management and configuration such that new network elements can be added easily. Carrying traffic as IP also reduces bandwidth requirements.
Converged operators are using IMS to tie their mobile and wireline networks to offer applications that work seamlessly across networks. The goal is to offer applications that work continuously across all networks.
The solution proposed by Capgemini brings telecommunications operators an end-to-end solution to integrate and deploy Presence-based applications using Alcatel’s IMS platform.
