TDC has entered into an outsourcing contract with Capgemini Denmark on the supply
of IT development services and in that connection transfers 77 IT-employees to
Capgemini. The contract comprises IT supplies for the customer and order handling
systems in TDC’s mobile business and others and is an ex-tension of the 1-year-old
agreement, under which projects and solutions are designed by consultants in Capgemini
Denmark and are developed and tested at Capgemini’s IT centres in India.
“TDC’s mobile business constantly needs to be able to offer its customers new
products, and these are products that, in most cases, require a supply of IT development
services that exceeds our current capacity. The objective of the contract with
Capgemini Denmark is to provide the necessary resources,” says Jørgen Jakobsen,
Senior Vice President, IT, in TDC.
The 77 employees from TDC’s IT business area will be outsourced to Capgem-ini
with unchanged working conditions and a job guarantee for the next two years.
“The contract makes it possible for us to optimise our IT supplies internally
together with a specialised supplier, who will not only be able to use our em-ployees’
competencies, but who is also determined to develop their qualifica-tions further.
Therefore, this outsourcing does not mean that we are dropping the employees,
but rather that we are choosing additional competences – for the benefit of all
parties concerned,” says Jørgen Jakobsen, Senior Vice Presi-dent, IT, in TDC.
For Capgemini, the outsourcing contract with TDC is an important step in their
Rightshore™ strategy, and the 77 IT employees’ competencies in billing and customer
systems will further enhance Capgemini’s market position in this area.
“We are seeing a high level of demand at the moment and have just launched a
large-scale recruitment campaign. It is therefore valuable for us, on several
fronts, to be able to welcome so many competent new colleagues from TDC,” says
Torben Hohlmann, Director of Business Development, tele & media, Capgemini
Denmark.
“Historically, Capgemini has, in particular, achieved its growth through a large
number of outsourcing contracts and acquisitions. This is reflected in the di-versity
of our culture, and we have also built up great experience in further developing
and holding on to the many new employees that we have acquired outside the normal
recruitment process,” adds Torben Hohlmann.
