Senior Architects Discuss SOA with Microsoft

Capgemini and Microsoft align approach around SOA

12 February 2006

A number of Capgemini’s most senior solution architects made their way from 10 different countries to the Microsoft Campus in Redmond, Washington State, USA for the third Senior Architect Summit. The February 7–9, 2006 event provided the opportunity for Capgemini and Microsoft architects to explore the connection between each other’s work, share ideas, and provide insights.

This year’s event was designed to leverage the architects’ community’s commitment to bringing the best and most cost effective answers to our clients’ business needs. We also took the opportunity to consider how the Microsoft Alliance team and the Senior Architect community could work together to build an even stronger collaboration.

Three days were spent at Microsoft’s Executive Briefing Center exploring the business value of Microsoft products and how they can make the enterprise more agile. Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) was a key theme, and the team took the opportunity to learn more about Microsoft’s “Connected Systems” approach.

Microsoft’s Enterprise Partner Technology Team Director and Capgemini’s Global CTO presented our SOA approach prior to the Architecture Round Table. Executives from each company discussed the differences between the two approaches to SOA and focused on aligning our objectives (reducing costs and providing value) with the Microsoft platform.
