New study published on Mobile VoIP
Capgemini’s TME Strategy Lab has published the latest issue in its popular “Telecom & Media Insights” series, exploring the prospects of VoIP over wireless networks.

The report considers the feasibility of carrying a voice call over IP-based wireless networks and the attractiveness of mobile VoIP services to consumers, to assess the threat it poses to traditional mobile voice revenues. The study:
- Identifies the key requirements for VoIP: acceptable QoS, attractive pricing, and ease of use.
- Assesses the suitability of current and 3G cellular networks for mobile VoIP.
- Assesses the suitability of Wi-Fi and other broadband technologies.
- Analyzes the implications for mobile operators: what is the likely impact and what are their strategic options.
