Capgemini CTO Presents Benefits of SOA at World Customs Organization IT Conference
SOA is changing the way business process can be defined and implemented
12 April 2006
Andy Mulholland, Capgemini’s Global Chief Technology Officer, was invited to present at the World Customs Organization (WCO) IT Conference & Exhibition held in Bangalore in April.
The 3-day conference, entitled “Outsourcing and Off-shoring of IT: A Challenge for Customs?”, was designed to help the WCO’s members understand outsourcing as a serious option for their IT development and maintenance.
How can customs keep up with the fast pace of technology to satisfy future international trade demands but keep costs down?
Opening the final day, Andy Mulholland described how the world’s customs departments could benefit from some of the latest technology trends.
In a presentation entitled “Collaboration — Shared Independence,” he demonstrated how Service-Orientated Architecture (SOA) is changing the way business process can be defined and implemented.
Andy also sat on an expert panel on Day 2 on “Sense & Response: Process & Strategies in Outsourcing.” Topics ranged from traditional outsourcing to the use of software as a service, with much attention on the debate of legal and operational risk in outsourcing the entire IT function to one company versus breaking it up amongst several companies chosen for their point expertise.
Capgemini continues to be instrumental in the evolution of SOA and remains a key player in the outsourcing industry, and Andy was able to present our unique perspective on the challenges the WCO faces.
