A Wall Street & Technology Editorial TechWebCast – Enterprise 2.0 101 for Wall Street

Enterprise 2.0 101 for Wall Street

9 May 2007

You’ve heard of Web 2.0 and maybe the newer “Enterprise 2.0” buzz-phrase. Perhaps you’re a little skeptical or weary of the never-ending stream of new “2.0” terminology (we are). But these phrases are not empty, they have real technology tools underlying them, and some Wall Street firms have already begun adopting them and benefiting from their use.

For instance, Jefferies & Company, the global investment bank, has developed a wiki-like deal management tool that lets employees access details around deals such as mergers and acquisitions, including includes progress reports, client updates and tools for tracking meeting attendance, and most importantly it lets information be shared across groups that might not otherwise be sharing tips with one another.

At “Enterprise 2.0 101 for Wall Street,” Omer Soykan, Senior Vice President of Jefferies, will provide an update on his firm’s Web 2.0/Enterprise 2.0 projects. Matt Nelson, Senior Analyst in the Securities and Investments research service at TowerGroup, will provide insider scope from a recent research report he wrote, “Web 2.0 May Be the Future of the Internet, But What Does It Mean to Securities Firms?” Then we will hear from Mark Judah, Chief Technology Officer for SunGard’s InvestStar*One business, who will describe his company’s experiences developing and using an Enterprise 2.0 application.

Join Wall Street and Technology editor Penny Crossman, Nexaweb COO Dave McFarlane and Karl Nika, Director for the Capgemini Capital Markets and Investments (CM&I) team as they discuss the application-support and Web- development issues faced by IT management in the financial industry.
