Rightshore Data Analyst – MP project
Overview
There is a requirement for two Data Analysts for a project at M&S based off site. The role will involve working for the Data Manager on the project to provide support within the Data Team to analyse the data that will be migrated as defined in the Detailed Design documents (as at 11.06.2013 this is still TBC).

The following lists mandatory and preferred skills:
Mandatory:
• Experience using DataStage as an analytical tool.
For any data object that contain large data volume DataStage will be used to collate extracted data for analysis. Experience is essential for the role. Capgemini will take over the role that has been completed by ENTOTA for a current M&S project so we have to be seen to be at least as proficient as the people M&S have employed on this project.
• Experience of ETL (Extract, Transform and Load).
The end to end data migration process consists of the Extraction, Transformation and Load of data from source system(s) to target system(s). The Data Analyst has to have experience of the Data Migration end to end process on a previous project.
• Experience of Data Profiling.
The analyst will have to have undertaken some form of data profiling in a previous project. There will be a need to prioritise data that is to be profiled and to ensure that limited time and effort is concentrated on the data fields, records etc that will have a higher impact on the data migration process.
• Data Cleansing.
Experience is required of Data Cleansing within a project. This will be to identify and collate data that needs to be cleansed by the business or the application of transformation rules. There has to be an understanding of how to data cleansing issues are managed.
• Data Validation.
There has to be an understanding of the Data Validation process. Any invalid/incorrect data that is not identified within the data analysis process will either fail to load into the target system or will not be fit for purpose (and should be identified within data validation). It is therefore important that there is clarity around the impact of data analysis within the area of data validation.

• Flexibility.
The Data Analyst must be flexible to work within project hours when required. This will mean both UK hours and extended hours as and when required.

Preferable:
• Experience with SAP.
Ideally, the candidate would have worked with SAP as a considerable amount of data will be extracted from SAP. There should be an understanding of how the SAP data is stored as extracted data will be at table level.
• Attention to detail.
It is vital that the analysis covers all data. This will require analysis of every field on every record. The analysis of 90% of the data still means 10% of data has not been analysed and data problems could exist anywhere in the data. Where doubts exist they need to be highlighted. No assumptions should be made that data is fine. The analyst should be actively looking to find data problems for resolution.
• Knowledge of HP Quality Centre.
HP QC will be used to record all defects during test cycles. Experience of using this tool to monitor and update defects would be desirable.
