Despite having significantly lower ARPUs than European and US operators, network operators in emerging markets are maintaining margins by finding new ways to reduce the cost of operating mobile networks and serving customers through infrastructure sharing and outsourcing, encouraging customers to use self-service and maintaining low subscriber acquisition and retention costs.
