ENDESA awards Capgemini Spain and Sadiel the support of its Distribution Systems

Madrid, June 24, 2004. -- ENDESA has awarded to Capgemini Spain and Sadiel the contract to provide support for its distribution systems for the next five years. The contract is worth Euro 30 million and is expected to generate cost savings for Endesa of close to 20%.

The agreement entails the provision of services for the development of new projects and the development and maintenance of current distribution systems. These systems provide coverage for the technical management and telecontrol processes of the high, medium and low voltage grid and for works and maintenance management.

The electrical company ENDESA has awarded a five year contract for the support of its distribution systems jointly to Capgemini and Sadiel. The value of the contract is in excess of 30 million euros and will enable savings of close to 20 percent. The contract covers evolution and maintenance of the existing systems, together with the development of the new IT projects for the electricity distribution systems. These systems support technical management processes and control of the electricity network for medium and low voltage, as well as workforce management and maintenance applications.

In addition, Capgemini and Sadiel will collaborate to define the functional evolution of IT applications, elaborate strategic planning of system’s evolution, and support new IT architecture model. They will also work together to define procedures and quality standards. The services will be provided by a team of around 120 people coming from both Capgemini and Sadiel and based in Barcelona and Seville.

Capgemini and Sadiel have been collaborating with ENDESA for several years, contributing in the strategic planning process and the development of the leading utility in the Spanish electricity system.
