Until recently, emerging market countries were considered sources for low cost manufacturing. Now, there is a growing interest in the rise of the New Multinationals - the leading firms of these countries are internationalizing and even operating in foreign countries.

In this study, the IfM developed case studies of significant firms within the BRIC nations. They examined the political and economic developments within each firms’ home economy and target markets. The purpose was to gain an understanding of growth patterns and the developments that allowed them to expand beyond the boundaries of their home countries and into the global arena.
