The company changes quickly and I believe that in the market we're supporting, you have to be flexible to survive

Inspiration

I was originally attracted to consulting by the high standards and the professional approach of the people. I was particularly impressed with Capgemini's investments after the Group's merger. Capgemini brought in Macs and invested in Networking, something that we didn't have originally. It was exciting and a boost for us to learn about networking technologies.

Development

I started out in a small IT department of seven people, which has grown to over 40 people. Capgemini started to focus on IT. This was great for me! In 2001, Capgemini began outsourcing its internal IT team and I was transferred to the outsourcing team. Now I'm also responsible for external customers, and we have won a lot of new accounts. It’s different, because there are more factors involved, but I enjoy it.

Life at Capgemini

For Christian, one of the advantages of working for Capgemini is the flexibility, and also the confidence they have in his work: “I am able to make decisions and move forward and use my own thinking.”

He also likes being in an environment of high-performers. “All the people are well educated and very professional. Capgemini provides a constructive atmosphere for people driven by success and targets.”

Time Out

I'm married and we have a daughter. I like spending most of my time outside work with family and friends. Having a small daughter means I don’t get much time for hobbies, but I play the keyboard for fun when I have time. I also enjoy tennis and working out at the gym.

Dedication

Every new project is a big challenge. But you learn from it and with experience you can laugh about your difficulties later. I’ve been with the company for 15 years and I’m still learning everyday!

One of my greatest challenges was the merger of three IT centers. The most difficult part was getting the people involved to accept the change. That took a lot of talking, meetings and bringing people together. One of the lessons I learnt is that “We are all humans, not machines! What works on paper may still need a lot of investment in people management.
