Zohair
“In our work we frequently collaborate with people from other countries and departments,
which makes for a very stimulating environment. It’s a great way to develop and
learn new things.”
– Consultant, Marketing, Sales and Customer Services, the Netherlands, with Capgemini
since 2006
Zohair joined Capgemini in 2006 after obtaining a degree in business administration and 7 years at Siemens, where he held various roles, from product marketing to account management. In his spare time, Zohair practices Brazilian Jui-Jitsu, a martial arts discipline in which he won the Dutch Open championship in 2004.
Inspiration
Zohair had an idea that he wanted to work in consultancy, but didn’t know Capgemini at all. He recalls, “From the first moment I talked to the people here, I sensed that the culture was very different to the one I was accustomed to. It’s open, not rigid or hierarchical, and a Vice President and junior consultant can talk to each other on the same level. The fact that employees are given so many training opportunities also made a huge difference to me.”
Development
“I joined the company in 2006 as a senior consultant, and started on a big assignment in the telecommunications sector. I soon found myself in a very demanding and complex environment. It was a period in my life which taught me a great deal of self-awareness and perseverance!”
Zohair has just been promoted to Managing Consultant at Capgemini and nominated to follow a leadership training program in Paris.
Life at Capgemini
“Networking is an important part of the culture here, and that was something I had to adjust to. But I soon realized the advantages: the more contacts you have, the more opportunities you get to develop your own capabilities. It’s also great fun to be able to understand and learn from other people.”
Dedication
“I just got my MBA, which I have been doing alongside my full-time job over the past 2 years. I took on a new role during the last year of the MBA program, which wasn’t easy: I had to adapt to my new working environment and keep performing in my studies at the same time.”
Time Out
“I have found my true passion in Brazilian Jui-Jitsu, a martial arts discipline, which helps clear my mind.” Zohair used to train 4-5 times a week as well as coaching a small team, but has had to cut down the amount of time he spends training to fit around his work and studies. However, he says, “One of my dreams for the future is to have my own dojo (training center). The icing on the cake would be to bring forth a new Dutch champion myself!”
