Geralde

“Capgemini has taught me to approach a project from different perspectives.”
– Senior Consultant, Corporate Performance Management (CS), the Netherlands, with Capgemini since 1999

Making sure your colleagues get enough sleep isn’t normally the role of a Senior Consultant, but coordinating the annual Roparun (Rotterdam-Paris race), Geralde finds that this is just one of her many tasks.

Geralde is Team Captain for the Capgemini Roparun Team and last year took 2 teams of 8 to run over 530 kilometers, the longest non-stop relay run in the world. The initiative is to raise charity funds to support cancer victims. In 2007 the event raised over 3 million euros.

Geralde has a degree in Business Accounting and Administration, majoring in Business Society Management from Rotterdam School of Management, which she has obtained while working at Capgemini. Before joining the company she had several roles at Dutch Central Bank, where she worked for 3 years.

Inspiration

“I came into contact with Capgemini while working at Dutch Central Bank. The high professional standards and the personal integrity of the team members convinced me to join.”

Development

For her first 5 years at Capgemini, Geralde worked mainly on large financial projects for Technology Services. Since 2005 she has been with Consulting Services and specializes in Corporate Performance Management.

Life at Capgemini

What Geralde likes most about the company is the diversity. “Both within our work and the people - the culture is very open. For the organization of Roparun I have a lot of contact with colleagues at all levels of the company and the people are enthusiastic and approachable. This makes everyday life much easier!”

Dedication

As team leader for an international team in a highly political environment, Geralde understands the value of approaching a project through the eyes of others. “When working internationally, you always need to remember that what you like isn’t always what people want. You have to learn to adapt.”

Time Out

Geralde became Roparun Team Captain in 2005: “Working with Corporate Social Responsibility I already engage with charities and business ethics. I had learnt so much about it that I wanted to do it!”

As Captain, Geralde puts her political and organizational skills to good use: “I have to stay motivated and keep the team motivated. We always need to keep our goal in mind.” Geralde, and her team of 4 volunteers have to make all arrangements for the trip, secure sponsorship and take care of the participants during the run.

Geralde is also currently working on her PhD in Corporate Integrity.
