Anna
“If you want to learn a new trick in kite-surfing, you have to practise again
and again till you get it right. I think the same applies in business: everything
is possible if you work hard enough and stick at it!”
– Business Transformation Consultant, Consulting Services, Sweden, with Capgemini
since 2007
Before joining Capgemini in March 2007, Anna spent the past few years competing in kite-surfing events. She became Swedish and Scandinavian kite-surfing champion and won a bronze medal in the World Cup in 2005.
She has a Master of Science in Industrial Management and Engineering from the University of Lund, Sweden, where she specialized in Market and Business Development. When not perfecting freestyle tricks on her kite-board, Anna found the time to run her own water sports education and equipment company.
Inspiration
“In my search for challenges and variety, I decided to become a consultant. Capgemini seemed to have a culture that suits me, with skilful, yet friendly and humble individuals. From what I’ve heard, you quickly get to be involved in very interesting projects.”
“I learned about Capgemini from a friend who works here and told me great things about the company. Then I came to a recruitment day at the University and really liked the people.”
Development
Anna began working within transformation consulting in the Manufacturing and High Tech sector. Her first impression: “It seems to be a really great place to be if you want to develop and learn fast. I like the fact that I got involved in an assignment straight away. There’s always someone there to guide you.”
Life at Capgemini
“Right away, I could see that it’s a welcoming environment, super-friendly and team-oriented.”
Anna has never worked in an office before, except during the Summer holidays.
“It’s a complete change of scenery for me! But I like new things and am looking forward to new challenges.”
Dedication
“I imagine the greatest challenge will be to keep a good work-life balance. At some points I’m sure the job will be stressful, but you have to keep perspective and make sure you leave some time for life outside the office. I hope that the determination I learned from kite-surfing, the spirit of not giving up, will help me to succeed here.”
Time Out
“I mostly kite-surf, but I also like snowboarding or taking a ride on my skateboard. Now that I have an office job, I’ll look forward to it even more! I won’t be able to compete in the World Cup anymore, but you’ll have a hard time keeping me out of the water at weekends!”
