Capgemini in Australia
- In 2007, Capgemini was recognized for sponsoring Tania Quest through our leadership development program. A member of the Capgemini team, Tania raised over €10,000 for the Royal Society for the Blind and was selected as South Australia’s Young Business Leader of the Year and Fundraiser of the Year.
- In 2007, Capgemini Australia received the Blue Gum Award for our work with Good Beginnings Australia, an organization that delivers universal, early-intervention programs to families with young children.
Capgemini in China
- Since October 2006, about 150 employees at the Guangzhou Business Process Outsourcing Center in China have donated clothes, shoes, books, medicine, toys and other items to local disadvantaged children. Of the nearly 300 children to benefit from this initiative, approximately 50 are orphans at a Qinghai province orphanage.
- In 2007, China’s Corporate Citizenship Forum presented Capgemini with the “Best Corporate Citizenship” award for our commitment to corporate responsibility in China.
Capgemini in France
- Capgemini’s Accelerated Solutions Environment team helped the managers of Solidarités Nouvelles face au Chômage (A New Solidarity Against Unemployment) improve its mission and roadmap.
- Capgemini is a founding member of the Fondation du Sport, which uses local projects and programs to promote the social and educational benefits of sports.
- Capgemini is proudly sponsoring the Fédération française de Handisport as its athletes prepare for the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing. Created in 1963, Handisport aims to make sports accessible to people with disabilities.
Capgemini in Germany
- In 2007, sd&m (Capgemini’s Technology Services presence in Germany) celebrated its 25th anniversary with a 25-week initiative to increase fitness and raise money for charity. More than 320 employees from 8 offices ran for 5,143 hours and 8 minutes, earning €5,143.08 for SOS Children’s Villages worldwide.
Capgemini in India
- In 2007, a dozen volunteers helped refurbish a school outside Mumbai, India. The trip was coordinated by Schools for Humanity, an organization founded by Dave Brown, Capgemini’s IBM Alliance Leader for North America.
- Capgemini India has established a partnership with the Naandi Foundation and the Maharashtra government to promote the education of girls in the Maharashtra region. Many Capgemini employees have donated their time to the “Nanhi Kali” project.
- Capgemini India works with Child Relief & You and the Childline India Foundation to improve the lives of local children. Past initiatives include a conference and fundraising drive to raise awareness of homelessness.
- Founded by Kanbay associates in 2004, WeKare works with more than 30 organizations in 3 Indian cities. In 2006, volunteers visited local schools and centers for the elderly, provided equipment to schools and ran blood donor clinics.
Capgemini in the Netherlands
Capgemini Netherlands takes steps to raise employee awareness by organizing initiatives, including:
- Employee test drives of hybrid cars to demonstrate that environmentally-friendly vehicles are not necessarily less comfortable or more expensive.
- Computer courses at “de Boog”, an occupational therapy center for recovering psychiatric patients.
- A new website for the African Parks Conservation.
- Running events, such as Kikarun and Roparun, and lottery tickets to raise money for people suffering from cancer.
In addition, Capgemini employees actively participate in a number of community organizations:
- In 2007, in collaboration with FunCare4Kids and Work on Progress, volunteers organized a day of outdoor activities for children with disabled or sick family members.
Capgemini in North America
We support employee involvement in a number of charities and community organizations, including Shampoos for Shelters, the Chicago Abused Women’s Coalition, the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and Adopt-a-Family.
- In 2007, 7 Capgemini volunteers partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build a house in St. Bernard Parish. The community, located just outside New Orleans, saw its population decrease by more than 50% after Hurricane Katrina.
- Members of the Capgemini/HP Alliance Team organized the 1st annual charity run to benefit the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society in the Houston Marathon on January 13, 2008. Eight runners from Capgemini and HP participated in the event and donated over $1,000 to the cause.
Our annual United Way campaign raises funds nationwide to support fire departments and families of disaster victims, collecting contributions directly from the paychecks of employees wishing to take part.
SCENE (Supporting, Celebrating, Enriching and Networking with our Employees) teams in each of our 15 offices involve employees in educational, professional and charitable programs. Recent initiatives include:
- In New York, volunteers helped with emergency food programs, revitalized community spaces and participated in sponsored walks and sports events.
- In Chicago and Los Angeles, we developed a partnership program that offers minority-owned companies training and assistance in obtaining state-of-the-art technology.
- In New Orleans, volunteers provided extensive local support to victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Capgemini in Norway
- In June 2007, the Naandi Foundation launched its first overseas fundraising office, in Norway. By August 2007, Naandi Norway’s Power of 10™ program had raised enough money to support the education of 2,000 Indian girls.
Capgemini in Sweden
In 2007, Capgemini Sweden joined colleagues in other countries in supporting the Naandi Foundation.
- The Power of 10™ program invites all employees to donate €1 per day from their monthly salary.
- Instead of giving Christmas presents to clients and employees, Capgemini made donations on their behalf. The employee gift of €10,000, alone, will assist in the year-long education of 330 girls in India.
- Clients and partners donated €30 each to attend Capgemini Sweden’s 40th anniversary celebration featuring traditional Indian dancers.
Capgemini in the United Kingdom
The Prince’s Trust is a leading UK charity that helps young people develop new skills and engage in work, education and training. A dedicated Capgemini Network Team collaborates closely with the charity to organize “challenge events” and provide mentoring and pro-bono consulting.
- More than 180 Capgemini employees have volunteered their time, raising £410,000 in the past 2 years and helping more than 250 young people.
- In 2007, Capgemini’s UK corporate responsibility lead, Monica Wilson, was recognized as Volunteer of the Year at The Prince’s Trust & Royal Bank of Scotland Celebrate Success Awards in London.
Capgemini is Telford’s biggest private sector employer and an active participant in the local community.
- In June 2007, Capgemini CEO Paul Hermelin presented a check for €420,000 to the new Telford office of The Prince’s Trust.
- Capgemini has sponsored the AFC Telford United football club since 2004 and recently signed a 3-year contract.
- In 2006, we raised over £20,000 for local charities, including hospices and seriously ill children. Capgemini’s contribution to the Telford community was recognized at the Chamber of Commerce Shropshire Star Business Awards.
Capgemini employees actively participate in a number of other community organizations:
- The Partners in Leadership program matches company managers with head teachers from local schools to provide support on a broad range of management issues. Capgemini is one of the largest program participants, with more than 235 of our managers involved in partnerships.
- A Time to Read supports children with literacy and numeracy challenges in local primary schools. Over 250 Capgemini employees have volunteered and assist in 14 different schools across the UK.
Sogeti (Capgemini’s Local Professional Services subsidiary)
- Sogeti has been providing information systems support to PlaNet Finance for nearly 10 years. PlaNet Finance is an international non-profit organization that aims to alleviate poverty by creating economic opportunities for the world’s poor with microcredit.
- Sogeti created its own business school dedicated to delivering long-term training programs in France.
